Kelvin'Tate Da Great' was born on 747 flying to newyork. He grew up in newyork and Chicago. He joined his high school band where he received a muscial scholarship to roosevelt university. While studying shakespeare, he learned to use rap music as a creative and exciting way of expanding his retention level. His classmates were impressed with his ability to write and perform rap music. The praise of his teachers and peers helped to encourage him to pursue a career in music.AFTER his first album was released in 1990, he committed himself to the overall betterment of the inner city youth. In the early 1990s,Tate Da Great productions became a driving force for the positive development of Chicago's underprivileged youth. He inspired youth to seek the value of their lives and the lives of others with the ' chill on violence tour' he has participated in anti- drug rallies, tours of cook county jails, C.H.A and Chicago PUBLIC SCHOOLS in conjuction with such organizations as'BLACK ON BLACK LOVE' and 'THE BLACK STAR PROJECT'. HIS MOTIVATIONAL PLAY ' STOP THE DOPE' HAS GAINED CITY- WIDE RECOGNITION AND HONORS THROUGHOUT THE CPS SYSTEM. HIS CURRENT PROJECT, the R.E.A.D, program is designed to help motivate students to learn that reading is fun. It will increase test scores, build self-esteem and create healthier attitudes about themseleves. Because of his time in the inner city as a youth, tate can identify with problems and the environment of today's youth. TATE is loving,generous family man.
