Nursery rhymes are great, but all children deserve the chance to rock! (and soul, and jazz, and country, and blues, and RnB, and hip hip, and, well, you get the point...!) School of Rock-a-Bye Babies 'Volume 1' is the first installment of rockin', rollin', foot-stompin', booty-shakin', scarf-dancin', hand-clappin' songs written and arranged by Elizabeth A. Haydn-Jones from her unique music 'school', School of Rock-a-Bye Babies, based in London, UK. 'Volume 1' takes listeners on a magical mystery learning tour of rhythm, melody and harmony. Elizabeth is joined by the esteemed cast of puppets who comprise the School of Rock-a-Bye Babies Puppet Band in introducing young (and old!) listeners to many musical styles, themes and instruments with style, wit, and humor. Dancing, singing and hollering to tunes like 'All is Well (With My Cowbell)', 'The Violin Sings', and 'Tidy Up Blues' teaches the listener about music (and toy tidying etiquette!) by having some good, old-fashioned fun. Listen, learn and let loose, it's an all ages rock n' roll party! 'Volume 1' was expertly recorded by Eric Peterson (former guitarist with Matthew Sweet, Let's Active) and Robert Sledge (bassist Ben Folds Five) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and features musical contributions by both of these talented artists. SRBB is the creation of classically-trained musician and performer Elizabeth A. Haydn-Jones. Elizabeth is a mother-of-one who lives in Maida Vale, London. She created School of Rock-a-Bye Babies after the birth of her son, Jones Ray Antley, to bring a different type of music class into babies' and toddlers' lives. During her maternity leave, Elizabeth wrote and sang several songs for her son and was struck by how much joy her sharing music brought to him. At only a few weeks old, his ability to communicate was enhanced through music - by laughing and 'singing' along - and their time singing and dancing together strengthened their mother-son bond. Through SRBB, Elizabeth wants to introduce other adults to the transformative joys of making, sharing, and enjoying music with their children. Enjoying music together will strengthen bonds while teaching children to communicate, cooperate and listen with increased confidence. More about Elizabeth A. Haydn-Jones: Over the years, Elizabeth has played various instruments in orchestras, quartets and school bands, has sung in many choirs and rock bands, and has performed as a solo singer/songwriter. Elizabeth studied classical violin as a member of The Academy of Music at the Mount Royal College Conservatory in Calgary, Canada and was a member of the Calgary Youth Orchestra for several years. Having worked for several years as a professional musician and actor, friends encouraged Elizabeth to share her songs with a younger audience. Thus, School of Rock-a-Bye Babies - her second 'baby' - was born! Elizabeth holds an undergraduate degree in English (Drama and Theatre) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a post-graduate degree in Public Policy (Human Rights) from University College London. Since giving birth, Elizabeth has become increasingly interested in child development, particularly Attachment Theory.
