In September of 2005, Rudi went down to Sixteen Ton Studios on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee and recorded his third album of kids songs. With Nathan Gray on bass, Dusty Privette on drums, and Rudi on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and piano, they recorded 'Lettuce Monkey Around,' featuring the title track and other silly songs. 'Hay is for Horses' is about a horse that would rather eat than walk, 'Hiphopapotamus' is about a mad scientist's experiment with a rabbit and a hippopotamus, and 'Trog' is based on a character who lives in a black hole and is part of a soon-to-be-released line of children's characters relating to dreams and space. As usual, however, hidden messages are still around, as in 'When the Spooky Cookie Met the Scary Cherry,' which is about two pieces of leftover food starting to fight, when an old strawberry reminds them, 'Be Nice and Have Fun.' Rudi (Scott Rudicel to his parents) enjoyed local, regional and national success with numerous rock and folk bands in the 90's and early 2000's, traveling the country and appearing on many CD's for various artists, including his own bands, Liquid Circumstance and The Fabulous Lettuce Monkeys. A gig in Montana for a roommate's day-care center, and the birth of his two nephews, Alex and Austin, prompted him to begin writing his own songs for children.
