Teachers and Parents - JUMP on THIS ONE! Think - 'Gifts' for Teachers in June! They will LOVE you for giving them new Holiday Songs for their Classrooms that ENTERTAIN and EDUCATE students. Parents - think 'Summer Road Trips'- songs that will keep your child occupied as these songs encourage singing along, challenge the brain, and tickle the ears! Finally a Group of Songs that touch most of the Popular Holidays sung in a clear diction and pitch that children can emulate in their natural high voices. They not only have good lyrics, but also GREAT MUSIC with orchestrations of a high quality, professional sound. They give many opportunities to incorporate Rhythm, Movement, Identifying Instruments, Patterns, Form, etc. As aids in teaching Public School Music requirements. Suggestions for getting kids involved in the music: 1 The "Months of The Year" not only teaches Seasonal happenings, but the second half has the children fill in the last words for a rhyming and memory game. The last part of the song has a tongue twisting rhyme to challenge all ages. 2. & 3. The "Valentine Dance" combines a sweet beginning and ending, with a bouncy dance between verses. The very young may want to jump up and down, while older ones may create a nice dance step. On #3. Instructions are given for using the song in Group Interaction for socialization in the classroom or at a party for all ages. 4. "The Leprechaun" has a 'pop' music feel telling about the Leprechaun who often is seen making a shoe, and giving mystical coins away in case he is caught. 5. &6. make you want to dance again. #6. has Dance Instructions for the more nimble, and simplified Clapping and Drone Ostinato Singing for others. Great for Schools. 7 "Spring Is Almost Here" has a settling sound for a relaxing rest or creative drawing. 8. "Easter Egg Colors" can be used with a pre-drawn picture of colored eggs for the children to identify the colors sung on the song. Give children a copy to color on their own after listening to the song in class, or they can draw their own eggs. Be sure to listen to the surprise ending - really fun for the kids. There's counting on this one, too. 9. "Save Our Earth" - makes all aware of the Earth Day issues and is great for all to sing and act out. Background tracks available on request. Drawing these images for the bulletin board would be a perfect activity. Background Tracks for you r own show are available through email. 10. Every Graduation needs an inspirational song about reaching for your dreams. 'Dream A Dream' brought tears to the eyes of the Cultural Arts audience that heard it at an Awards Ceremony. Try using it as a background for a slide show. 11. "Billy The Scarecrow" is a lively story that can be listened to, sung with, or enacted with puppets. Sing along with the recurring chorus. It's a great vocalizing tune. 12. "Trick Or Treat" conjures up many memories of the fun of knocking on doors and counting the 1-2-3 beat. Yummy candy, too. 13. "All On Halloween" has great spooky sound effects, and still not too scary for the little ones. 14. "Old Mrs. Witch" is another fun song about a witch who is not so scary. 15. This "Costume March" is a gift to all teachers or party givers. The effects are unexpected and varied to each verse in an upbeat tune. You'll want to repeat it over and over, depending how long your parade is. 16. "My Country 'Tis Of Thee" - explained - for all those children, adults, and immigrants who have mispronounced the words for a lack of understanding what they were. This is perfect for children and bi-linguals who need to learn about U.S.A. history. It fits any Patriotic Holiday. Play it with Puppets for more fun in a program, or use it as a background for a slide show as a history lesson in school. 17. The "Turkey Song" starts slow and sad. Then it speeds up on the repeats for a challenge to see how fast you can sing the Gobbles. Lots of fun to sing. 18. & 19. Are traditional Christmas Songs every child will enjoy singing with their parents or class. Priscilla is a local and CA State AWARD WINNING MUSICIAN, Teacher, Composer, Performer.
