Hear us on Sirius XM's Kids Place Live as they spin Love, Cake & Monsters! Yeah, so Princess Katie thinks the world needs more dancing...so, here's Love, Cake & Monsters! Love, Cake & Monsters is a collection of funk, rock, dance, pop and even a creepy orchestral Halloween tune for families. Simply put, it's real music with kid-friendly lyrics. Love, Cake & Monsters kicks off with "Come On Out," a high-powered rock anthem about what to expect when coming to a Princess Katie & Racer Steve concert. The album then slides into "Hug It Out," a heavy funk hit that gets it's "funkiness" from the incredibly kicking horn section (members of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and soulful background vocals. "Come Pinky's Love Cake" is a heavy tuba/Beatle-ish tune that humorously tells the story of a bakery that only sells one kind of cake: one made from love. "Tonight" is a pretty pop tune about how staying up late might is not all it's cracked up to be, while "Hey, Monster" is a seriously quick ska tune that let's monsters know that kids are no longer afraid of them, so much so, that they're sent off looking for new jobs. "I Got This" Princess Katie's favorite song - all-time - is a retro disco dance number she was inspired to write after she offered help to a little girl and the little girl said confidently, "No, I got this." The electric guitar heavy rock n' roll "Lavender Mint" and the ska "Little Skarlett" prove that the band chooses their musical genre and nails it. "Take It On Over (Timeout)" is a soulful, funky song about a trip to the Time Out chair...never good! Love, Cake & Monsters concludes with "Halloween," an orchestral tale about trick-or-treating with Princess Katie & Racer Steve. The orchestral hit, with it's gorgeously popular video found on YouTube, was recorded with a 53-piece Macedonian orchestra. Beautiful musicianship plus a catchy halloween hook will have you humming it whilst trick-or-treating. Mwaaah!
