The Organ Grinder was a common sight during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Usually seen in the larger cities in the country, the Organ Grinder would play a street organ, or more commonly known as a 'Monkey Organ'. The Grinder would usually have a small monkey that would gather coins while the grinder would play the organ. Since their heyday, Organ Grinders have almost gone extinct but there a few people carrying on the tradition. The music played on this recording is from an authentic Bacigalupi and Molinari organs. Each was recorded at peak restoration and sounds great. So sit back and be prepared to be transported back to the days of the 'Monkey Organ'.
