...it all started with that ridiculous CRCT rap. In 2009, after teaching general music to elementary school-aged children for many years (and writing quite a few silly songs along the way) I decided to compose a song about our CRCT standardized test for a school pep rally. It was a HUGE hit with our students and I began thinking about what else I could do to make a similar impact. Fast-forward to 2010. My good friend Shannon Barron, a co-worker, asked me to come up with a musical way to help her students with place value concepts. Bam. The song was written, recorded, and in her hands the next day. After that, we spent the rest of the school year exchanging ideas about what needed to be addressed with her students. Songs like Fractions, Explorers, and more were the result. This album was my first foray into educational music. It started as a way to help a friend and students I care about but has become much, much more. I am proud of these songs and I hope you'll enjoy listening to or using them as much as I did making them!
