Winner of the Parents' Choice Approved Medal and containing 'Bed Bug Bounce', finalist in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest,and 'Squirrel and Nut', finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition, Little Animals is the latest children's CD from singer/songwriter Mark Weakland. Mark's work with the Family Arts Theatre helped the group earn a Parent's Choice Silver Medal for their CD 'Pajama Jammin''. 'Listening to Bed Bug Bounce is one of my first-graders' favorite rewards. He's helped open for national artists such as Merle Saunders, Rusted Root, The Band, Dave Mason, and jazz greats John Faddis, Emily Remler and John Blake. Currently, his music can be heard on WYEP's (91.5 FM) award-winning public radio program, The Saturday Light Brigade. Mark is also a teacher and educational consultant. He's worked with children and the educational system for almost 15 years. He's recently presented on ways of using music, drama and movement in the classroom at The Pittsburgh Summer Institute, The 15th Annual Early Childhood Conference, and the Western Pennsylvania Conference for Middle and Secondary Teachers.
