Many of our friends were having babies and raising toddlers at that time, and we heard them bemoaning the lack of great kids' music that they could also enjoy. 'Music that kids can enjoy without driving parents crazy' was our mantra at the beginning and is to this day. We've been influenced by many genres and styles of music and all the songs that Barry wrote for 'Rhythm & Melody's Animal Fantastic' reflect that. We realized while thinking about Little Blue Suit that we had a built-in board of advisor's in our family, and were uniquely suited based on our collective experience in Education, Fine Arts and Business. Our Dad (recently retired) was an Elementary School Music Teacher for 32 years; he continues to coach Football at the school we both attended. He passed the musical talent gene to Barry. The environment of unconditional support that he created for his students, athletes and us is exactly the one that kids need to feel secure enough to learn, to be creative and to foster an all important sense of both teamwork and independence. Our Mom taught English as a Second Language to students from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Her classroom was a microcosm of the bigger multi-cultural world in which we all exist. She provided a space for her students that overflowed with the compassion, encouragement and creativity they need to grow and flourish in a new country with unfamiliar language and customs. Music was quite often an integral part of her classroom exercises to encourage participation and ease confusion. Barry played the trumpet for many years and he's a self-taught guitar player. He currently teaches English, Creative Writing and Dramatic Arts and plays in a band for fun. The story of Rhythm and Melody popped into my head one day when I was thinking about Barry's incredible ability to see beyond the flawed surface and truly appreciate each person as the special individuals they really are. It's something that every child should get the benefit of and it's an important lesson to learn early and practice always. I've spent the last 13 years marketing creative people and talented musicians in the recording industry. It's very important to create music that entertains, educates, engages, and elevates people. We think our first project does that for kids of all ages, and we look forward to Little Blue Suit being synonymous with great music, learning, and fun.
