The Fuzzy Stones were "formed' by a grown man after one too many long car rides with his kids. Their debut album, Get It Together, was recorded with a little help from a lotta friends, including members/alumni of Clem Snide, Van Hunt, the Original P, Millie Jackson, Blue Man Group, Count Zero, Pee Wee Fist, Tracy Bonham, Cobre Verde, and New Lou Reeds, plus Todd Tobias (Robert Pollard/Guided By Voices producer), Tommy West (Jim Croce producer and Partridge Family songwriter), a philosophy professor, a fork-lift salesman, a roller derby queen, a guitar teacher, a metal bird sculptor and hip kids like that. The album contains mostly original songs by the almost totally unknown songwriting duo of Robinson/Nassif, plus a few sweet covers, including a Syd Barrett tune, a Clem Snide tune and a Viva l'American Deathray Music tune. The band features the stylish, perplexing (or is it perplexed?), habitually self-centered, oft-pretentious, yet somehow endearing Fuzzy Logic (lead singer with a fake British accent--he's really from Ohio, you know), the knowledgeable hepster Ant Man Bee (keys/groovy sounds/vocals), the consistently well-reasoned and wise-cracking Betty Bitty Birdy (bass/vocals), the interminably passionate artiste Six-String Cletus Clementé (guitars/stringy things/vocals), the sublimely soulful and deeply spiritual D-Pac Chakra (electric piano/organ/vocals) and the indefatigable, ever-ready and eager for action Monk E Drummer (drums/vocals). Imagine... if the Monkees were to meet Gorillaz for a jam session at Fat Albert's junk yard... OR if Josie and the Pussycats were caught kissing Flaming Lips in the 5th Dimension... OR if Keith Partridge were Guided by the Voices of Brian Eno and Sly Stone through Magnetic Strawberry Fields after watching Spinal Tap for the hundredth time... then, you still might have no idea what the Fuzzy Stones sound like. So, try this: the music is wild, raucous, sweet, sensitive, fun, funny, uplifting, heart-warming, cosmic, comical, stupid, clever, hip, corny, magical, mysterious, obvious, earthy, organic, free range, locally grown yet fully global, 99% non-conflict, 100% cruelty-free, hard, soft, sloppy, neat, light, airy, dense, heavy and hauntingly lyrical... ok, not really hauntingly lyrical, but it will definitely make you feel something... usually something pretty darn good. No more fighting for control of the car stereo on the way to grandma's. It's time to get it together!
