Singer and songwriter Erin Wurtemberg LOVES music. She says it fills her up just like food does! Erin has been singing since she was a little girl and has been writing songs on her 100-year old piano for nearly a quarter of a century. A professional actress in her teens, Erin lent her vocal talents to a handful of children's recordings as well as a lead role on the syndicated family radio program, Adventures in Odyssey. When her plans to pursue musical theater in college took a turn, she focused on the art of music performance and found her true passion in the art of song. She has been performing at local venues in the LA area for the past 18 years. Erin's music is a lyrical blend of pop and folk with lots of jazz influence sprinkled in. Although Erin has been writing and performing music for 'grown ups' for many years, her latest release, entitled Beautiful Day, is a collection of 12 songs; several of which were either co-written or inspired by her daughter. Erin believes that childrens music should be simple yet smart with a high degree of musicality and an even higher level of fun! Beautiful Day reminds the listener of simple childhood joys such as riding to Grandma's or licking a lollipop as well some of the human struggles that come with being a little one such as sharing or not being able to fall asleep. What's perhaps most exciting about this record is that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Beautiful Day CD will benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, a most-amazing place where miracles happen. In addition to making music, Erin also enjoys cheese, dance parties, cooking, and spending time with her family. Erin lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two kiddos (plus one on the way), and 4 pet chickens. About the cause: CHILDRENS HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Beautiful Day CD will benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), a most-amazing place where miracles happen. In 2005 Erin's daughter's life was spared by the efforts of the Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at CHLA. When she was just 2 days old, Maya was diagnosed with a potentially fatal heart condition. At a wee 5 days old, she underwent open heart surgery. Her parents and family waited, prayed, waited, and prayed as they watched her recover over the next couple of weeks. Thanks to the top-notch, world-class, best-of-the-best efforts of CHLA, Maya has been able to grow into a healthy, happy kid who loves to dance and make music! Beautiful Day was created in hopes of raising awareness about this incredible institution that helps children worldwide. According to chla.org, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles provides more than 97,000 children with pediatric health care each year--in a setting designed just for their needs. The hospital performs over 15,000 pediatric surgeries annually--and performs more complex procedures than any other hospital in Southern California. CHLA is the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Los Angeles County approved by the County Department of Health Services and accredited by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. Children's Hospital Los Angeles is a nonprofit, academic, pediatric medical center that provides the highest quality healthcare for children in the Los Angeles area and beyond!
