Like a kid, I am is a collection of original, light-hearted, playful, fun-filled songs inspired by, about and for my grandbabies. I'm reminded everytime I'm with them just how remarkably innocent, impressionable, imaginative and inquisitive they are. Unconditional love is the core theme of my relationship with my grandkids and the essence of the songs written for this CD. And while I'm 'Poppy' to my grandkids, I'm also their big friend - true blue, without conditions or expectations - always ready to play, to be in the moment. Like a kid. The music of Like a kid, I am is about the everyday experiences of interacting with and observing kids doing what they do - questioning, exploring, mimicking, fighting, sharing, playing, laughing, teasing, taunting, testing - with the innocence and honesty that only kids possess. These childlike qualities are a source of inspiration to me. Truly seeing things through a child's eyes is a blessing of being awed by the beauty and adventure of life, where even the most most mundane things hold fascination. These songs are simple. They're honest and true. They're just about my experiences and reflections about my grandkids. When I'm with them, I'm truly like a kid. I am. I smile just thinking about their special little expressions, unique personalities, quirky traits, attitudes, inclinations. Sometimes they're mischievous, sometimes they're the very definition of sweet. Sometimes naughty, sometimes clever and creative, sometimes thoughtful and deliberate, sometimes carefree. And always surprising and inspiring, filling me with joy. And I've tried to capture that joy in these songs. These songs are for moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, and kids everywhere to enjoy. They're simple stories celebrating being a kid and the virtues of holding onto our innate and powerful childlike qualities to embrace life, at every stage. After all, we were all kids once. Remember?! These songs are fun to dance to and easy to sing along with. And I think you'll recognize some of the themes. Play them loud and often and I think you'll have fun with this CD.
