Dougie Bear is a musician, singer/songwriter from Michigan. He has been producing and performing original music for over 15 years and has received many awards for his compositions as well as writing/performing commercial jingles. His music has also been heard in television and radio both nationally and locally. While playing with his son, he found that he had a knack for writing songs that would both educate and entertain kids. The title song of the c.d. "You Gotta Have Fun" focuses on having fun learning and working to achieve your goals. This is shown in the lyrics of the song. The song "Minus the Train" focuses on subtraction as the train loses each car one by one in a rain storm. "They call him Minus the choo-choo train, carrying five cars in the pouring rain. But he went too fast, one slipped off track, but he can't slow down, and he can't go back. So we have to subtract. Five minus one makes four". The song "Ice Cream" teaches the value of money and how to save to purchase a product the narrator wants, in this song an ice cream cone. "One sent is a penny, Ten cents is a Dime, Five cents is a nickel, every time. Twenty-five cents is a quarter, One-hundred makes a dollar bill. If that's enough to buy an ice cream cone, then I think that I will". The song "Riding my Bike" promotes bicycle safety in the lyrics "Red means stop, green means go. Here's a couple rules that you ought to know. Look both ways before you cross the road, watch out for cars wherever you go". The song "I'm Moving" promotes physical activity and the importance of exercise to stay healthy. The song "Yeah Yeah Yeah" teaches children music abilities by running through the major scale as well as a major chord this gives the fundamentals of music knowledge to kids. The c.d. wraps up with a soothing lullaby called "Little Sheep'.
