Many definitions are rendered as to what 'Folk' is...what readily comes to mind is, 'Folk music is sung by folks and we're folks!' In spite of the often lengthy opinions, truisms and definitions of 'Folk', this good ole boy has found yet another. This new found definition is called BOB LA BEAU. To those who have experienced the odysseys of Pete Seeger, the humor of Roger Miller and naturalism of Sam Hinton, the LA BEAU thing will seem somewhat familiar. Upon consumption of a LA BEAU set, however, one will taste an ingredient quite different from the afore mentioned recipe...an 'Aid to Ingestion', one might say. For sure, there is some difficulty in defining the main ingredients of a LA BEAU...one would have to experience this for themselves. There is no mistaking the appealing texture, however, that is mixed and stirred with creativity, variety, original music, drama and 'punch-line' timing. An old-timey blue grass...maybe, standard folk songs...maybe, classical guitar...maybe. But if you're really into 'peaking under rocks' for a variety of new and exciting experiences in folk...take one LA BEAU, close your eyes and enjoy!
