Beth & Scott return with their second recording, HAPPY HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD, based upon their long-running stage musical of the same name. Once again, Beth's beautiful alto voice is paired with Scott's strong tenor and a chorus of children. Together, they bring this collection of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa songs to life for children and their families. Traditional favorites from Christmas include 'Jingle Bells' and 'Feliz Navidad' plus two new songs, 'Flor de la Noche Buena' (based upon the Mexican legend of the Poinsettia) and 'Christmas Wrappin', a hip-hop tribute with lyrics that describe the way folks around the world celebrate Christmas. When Beth & Scott researched HAPPY HOLIDAYS, they found precious few songs about Kwanzaa, so they wrote their own! 'Matunda Ya Kwanzaa' describes the seven-day holiday in elegant Swahili and English. Music teachers have praised it as 'the perfect teaching song about this holiday.' In their next Kwanzaa selection, 'Wood-Hoopoe Willie' Beth & Scott have adapted a children's book about one small boy's search for self-esteem into a rhythmic retelling that will inspire people of all ages and cultures to display their talents and pursue their dreams. To celebrate Hanukkah, the festival of lights, Beth & Scott offer sing-along standards such as 'I Have a Little Dreydel' and the powerful, 'Oh, Hanukkah'. They follow this with a fun, rock 'n roll number called 'One Potato, Two Potato' - a song about making potato pancakes (latkes)! Ending the recording is a cover of Peter Yarrow's 'Light One Candle', a beautiful ballad that is sure to remind everyone of the importance of remaining strong in the face of adversity. Over the years of singing these songs in schools, Beth & Scott have come to realize that while there are many differences between us, we all share many traditions with one another, too - a respect for history, family get-togethers, gift-giving, decorating, singing, and, of course, food! It is Beth & Scott's sincere belief that as we sing one another's songs, we come to understand and appreciate that which makes us unique along with that which unites us all. May your holidays be filled with love, peace, and music!
